City Heights Islington
City Heights Islington

From no planning
to no problem

History

Bombed during the Second World War, the site was left derelict for half a century.  Due to an underlying rail tunnel, significant parts of the construction needed to be considered and worked around.

Approach

The site was acquired without planning in a part of London which was unpopular at the time.  The theme of the scheme needed to be a combination of convenience and style in order to appeal to City executives.  Once planning was successful acquired and construction had begun, the finished apartments were marketed both in the UK as well as Hong Kong.

Scheme Overview

  • State-of-the-art, landscaped development comprising 67 apartments
  • Scheme provided a focal point and catalyst for local regeneration
  • Second site developed in conjunction with Southern Housing to satisfy planning obligations for affordable housing
  • Marketing programme generated significant off plan sales
